Dina Roudman is a Russian artist born in 1991 in Norilsk (Siberia). After living in Kazakhstan and Israel, she now lives and works in Toronto (Canada). A self-taught multidisciplinary artist (painting, photography, acting), after a 12-year career as an international model, she decided to take on a new challenge and devote herself entirely to painting. Drawing on her eclectic background and varied experiences, and reflecting her acute sense of authenticity, Dina's painting is a unique blend of energy, raw emotion and vivid color. Rejecting all pre-established rules, it's her body that gives rhythm to her compositions. It's a gestural, automatic painting that defies academism, even though it has been nourished by a long line of painters. We might think you recognize Cy Twombly, Miro, Basquiat and many others, but it's his instinct, his willingness to seek out a new, fragile, nervous dimension to painting that speaks to our collective subconscious.
