Alberto Biasi

BIOGRAPHY

Alberto Biasi is an iconic figure in contemporary Italian art, whose works transcend the boundaries of visual perception and material experimentation. Born in Padua on June 2, 1937, Biasi is renowned for his significant contribution to the kinetic and programmed art movement, which revolutionized the way we interact with art.

From the beginning, Biasi stood out with a bold and innovative approach. He graduated from the Pietro Selvatico Art Institute in Padua and the Faculty of Architecture at the University of Venice, deeply influenced by the avant-garde ideas shaping post-war Europe. In 1959, he co-founded Group N, a collective of artists dedicated to exploring optical and dynamic phenomena, marking the start of a prolific and experimental career.

Biasi's works are characterized by a relentless search for movement and transformation. Using varied materials such as plexiglass, metal, and light, he creates compositions that invite active interaction from the viewer. Biasi's reliefs and installations play with visual perception, creating illusions of movement and striking optical effects.

His work has been exhibited in the most prestigious art institutions worldwide, including the Venice Biennale, the Centre Pompidou in Paris, and MoMA in New York. Each of his exhibitions is an invitation to rediscover space and light through works that challenge conventions and stimulate the senses.

Beyond his artistic career, Biasi is also a thinker and teacher. He has shared his vision and expertise through lectures and workshops, inspiring a new generation of artists to explore the infinite potential of optical and kinetic art.

Alberto Biasi continues to create and exhibit, with his work remaining a constant exploration of human perception. His creations, imbued with innovation and dynamism, constitute a significant body of work in the panorama of contemporary art, reminding each viewer of the magic and transformative power of art.
